The Sunday Paper: Jason Kelce In A Velour Tracksuit - A True Style Icon

Yes, you read that correctly, Jason Kelce. His brother, of course, is a style icon in his own right and better known for being one, but I wanna highlight Jason right now. As another week has passed, so to another week in the NFL playoffs and with it, two more teams knocked out. With that, we see the Chiefs march on and our man Travis Kelce lives to see another day. But the prior week, we saw his brother Jason get knocked out with his Eagles, which could spell the end of a tremendous 13-year career, and if it does, I salute thee. If it doesn’t, I equally commend thee. Jason’s story is a true underdog story, and as I learn more about this guy, the more I am impressed not only by him but the Kelce family in general. That is why I guess they have the number one podcast in America. Two guys just being themselves and wearing their heart on their sleeves or, in some cases, a velour tracksuit.

As much as Jason wasn’t a fan of velour, the gift he received from his brother he appreciated and wore it anyway. Now he may not be a velour convert at this point and that’s okay. But damn I thought that tracksuit looked good on him. Call me biased. And whether Jason likes it or not, he is something of a style icon by not trying to be someone else, just by being himself. And that, for me, is true style and authenticity. The juxtaposition of a Louis bag, a pair of flip flops and usually a pair of Apple headphones just works for me. And who could forget his parade attire when the Eagles won it all in 2018, not to mention his infamous speech? Such an inspiration, and he embodies the true underdog spirit. From a 191st overall pick to a 13-year veteran and Super Bowl champion to just being true to himself and a genuine bloke. He will be missed on the field if in fact it is the end, but regardless of that, judging by his shirtless antics in front of the Bills Mafia last weekend cheering on his brother next to his wife and Taylor Swift no less, I think we will be seeing plenty more of him and I’m all for that. He may not be the biggest fan of my velour sweatsuits, but I have become a Jason Kelce fan! So Jason, if it is indeed the end, I salute you. But if not, I wish you all the best next season!
